agent/artist Book More Shows

It's All About Booking Shows

There. We said it. We spoke the truth about show business. It’s all about booking shows.

Why Is It All About Booking Shows?

Everything else is “audience hype”. (Wow! You are learning a lot about show business!) Whenever you hear an artist say it’s about the music or any other “it’s about…”, they are playing to their base fans. Someday you will get to that point. And yes, if you are a musician it is about the music you create. However, no matter what stage your career is in, it will always come down to the number 1 thing: booking shows.

Ask any long-time artist or agent. They will agree it is about booking shows. Without the shows, there isn’t an audience to build a following. Without the shows, you can’t build a movement. Without the shows, you cannot pay the bills. Without the shows, you are just like a normal person.

You Are An Artist. You Have To Become A Businessperson.

There’s 3 reasons you are reviewing agent/artist website:

1. You have perfected your talent

2. You have perfected your act

3. You want to book more shows

It’s Too Hard To Book Shows!

WHAT?!!!

That’s what the agents tell you! We will debate with any agent, big or small, that booking shows is easy. Getting artists work is easy. Keeping artists working is easy.

Then why do agents always say its so difficult to books shows?

Let me ask you a question: Which came first, the agent or the artist?

Answer: THE ARTIST!

Where the heck did the agent come in? Once an artist perfects their craft, business comes in. And like any business, an artist needs more help. Thus the agent was created to take some items off the busy artist's plate. Through time the role of the agent has evolved. There is a wonderful place for agents in the career of the artist.

However, agents do a great job in making artists think they need an agent to book shows. Every artist wants an agent because they think they agents will make them a huge star. There is a little truth to that. The agent's job is to sell the act. If the act is fantastic the agent has an easy time selling the act. If the act becomes huge, it is because of the artist talent and the ability of a great selling agent. Both work hand in hand. It is no diferent than a candy bar. A great tasting chocolate candy bar sells easier than gumballs. If you had a choice, which would you sell? The great tasting chocolate. An agent does the same thing. They want to great acts.

But...

99% of agents are "mom & pop" companies. What we mean by that is that they are very small business'. Most likely employing only 1 additional person. There is nothing wrong with this. It's just that a small agent can only take on a handful of artists. Usually the agent's entire career is based on the booking the same artist's year after year.

Yet, the agent and the artist are in a "catch 22" situation. The agent wants artists that have lots of past performances and the artist wants and agent to get them the performances. It is a tough situation equally for the agent and the artist.

That is where agent/artist comes in. For the agent, we have artists who have experience under their belt that make it easier for the agent to sell. For the artist, we get you bookings so you can get the experience under your belt. It is a win-win for both agents and artists!
