artists: you don't need an agent
What? You are telling me that I don’t need an agent? Then why is everyone else telling me I need an agent? By the way, "agent is in your name, "agent/artist"!
No, you do not need an agent. However, there will come a time you may "want" an agent.
If you are an artist and you are at the agent/artist website then you are here because you CANNOT get represented by an agent. Most likely you have heard:
Our Roster is full
We do not book your type of act
We do not book acts we have not seen
We do not books acts that are “new”
We do not book acts that are not referred to us by our current roster
These are typical “we do not want you, we get too many inquires for representation so stop bothering us” responses. agent/artist will debate any agent that saying any of the above is 100% wrong if the agent wants to be successful. (more on that located on the agent’s pages!)
agent/artist can assist you in getting an agent. How? Here is a question for you:
Artist #1 is new to show business. The artist has the goods with no shows under their belt.
Artist #2 is exactly like artist #1 plus artist #2 has many shows under their belt.
Which of the two artists would an agent most likely take an interest in?
In Todays Entertainment Environment, It's All About The Artist Following
The days of an agent taking on an unknown act and bringing it to the masses is long gone. Heck, there aren't places that an agent can develope an artist like they used to do before 1988! Also everything has changed dramtically in the past 20 years for those who are agents.
Agents have a wider selection of acts to choose from who have a following. An act gets a following by performing shows. agent/artist is all about booking shows! Book shows, get a following. Get a following, get an agent. It's that simple!
